Aldactone
Indications for use
Spironolactone 25 mg is used to treat some patients with hyper aldosteronism (the body produces too much Aldactone 25 mg, a natural hormone); low potassium levels; heart failure; and in patients with edema (fluid retention) caused by various conditions, including liver or kidney disease. It is also used alone or with other drugs to treat high blood pressure. Aldactone 25mg in a class of drugs called aldosterone receptor antagonists. This causes the kidneys to eliminate unnecessary water and sodium from the body in the urine, but reduces the loss of potassium from the body.
Side effects
Spironolactone may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- stomach pain and cramps
- dry mouth
- thirst
- dizziness
- instability
- headache
- enlarged or painful breasts in men or women
- irregular menstrual periods
- vaginal bleeding after menopause ("after a life change", at the end of menstrual periods) women
- Difficulty maintaining or achieving an erection
- deepening voice
- hair growth on parts of the body
- drowsiness
- fatigue
- restlessness
